North Head is an iconic landscape of the Sydney region. In 2019 CALDESIGN prepared a concept development plan for the NPWS that took in the entire visitor journey from entry to lookouts. The study followed on from an earlier concept master plan prepared in 2017.
This 2019 development plan gave greater emphasis to Aboriginal heritage and suicide prevention.
The study looked closely at entry, shelter, circulation, legibility, communications and signage, parking, user experience and safety, ecology, traditional and recent history, culture, architectural style and materials.
Our plan was presented to the North Head stakeholder group and NSW Govt. strategic planning in late 2019 with staged funding provided for priority projects to be administered by NPWS.
