A growing family with lots of young, active kids and grown-ups bit the bullet and pursued the dream of having a swimming pool to enjoy during the warmer months. Constrained by a compact, steeply-sloping site and tight access the challenge was to site the pool so that it allowed for other relaxation and play spaces.
We decided to pursue the complying development route and this paid off in terms of the cost of documentation and a reduced timeline from design to build. All up the project was completed in about a year from concept to pool commissioning. The concept design stage was crucial as a number of different layouts and locations were explored. The rectangular pool was balanced by generous areas of split-level decking, lawn and garden.
The plantation mahogany decking was left untreated to silver off to complement the light grey limestone pavers, garden steppers and existing house colours. Black waterline tiles matched existing steel balustrading and set off the light blue pebble pool render. Rustic hardwood slat screening doubled as pool fencing along the boundary and frameless glass fencing elsewhere kept pool and garden visibility to a maximum.
